Job BOM Trace View

8 views March 25, 2026

Use the Trace view to review how Pipeline LBM calculates product quantities in a Job Bill of Materials (BOM). The Trace view helps you validate calculations, understand how Key Measures contribute to product totals, and identify potential errors. Use it to troubleshoot unexpected totals by following the calculation path step by step.

Steps

  1. Open the Job BOM page.
  2. Locate the product whose total you want to inspect, then click the product’s Total Quantity value.
  3. Pipeline LBM opens the Trace screen for that specific SKU Product within that Section.
  4. Review the Key Measures on the left.
    • The Trace screen lists each Key Measure in that Section where the product applies.
    • Each Key Measure displays its Takeoff Quantity (for example, linear feet of wall).
  5. Examine how Pipeline LBM calculates the product quantity for each Key Measure.
    • The Subcomponent column shows the formula used (for example, QTY * 1.2). The calculated result reflects your Key Measure rules, including waste factors.
  6. Verify the Subtotal for the SKU Product. This subtotal represents the combined calculated quantity across all Key Measures before rounding.
  7. Review any Rounding Rules applied. Rounding is based on the settings defined in the Key Measure.
  8. Confirm the Section Total. This value represents the final calculated quantity of the product in that Section.

Notes

  • The Trace displays only the product quantities for the specific Section you selected. If the same SKU Product appears in other Sections, those instances will not appear in this Trace.
  • If the product has a Use, the Trace filters by that Use. If no Use exists, the Trace displays all instances of the product in the Section.
