Syncing quantities sends measurement data from the Takeoff workspace to Pipeline LBM (PLBM). This step connects your takeoff work to estimating and Bill of Materials (BOM) generation in PLBM.
When you sync quantities:
- The Takeoff workspace sends measured quantities to PLBM.
- PLBM updates quantity data based on the latest takeoff.
- Existing synced quantities may be updated to reflect changes.
Syncing quantities does not:
- Upload or sync plan files.
- Automatically generate a Bill of Materials.
- Change measurements stored in the Takeoff workspace .
Sync quantities from the Takeoff workspace to PLBM
- Open the job in the Takeoff workspace.
- Complete or update your takeoff measurements.
- Select the Sync Quantities
- Wait for the sync to complete and confirm the success message.
Results: Quantities from the Takeoff workspace are now available in PLBM. You can review them and generate or update a Bill of Materials.
When to sync quantities
You should sync quantities:
- After completing an initial takeoff.
- After making changes to measurements.
- Before generating or regenerating a Bill of Materials.
You can sync quantities multiple times during a job’s lifecycle. Each sync sends the latest measurement data to PLBM.
If measurements are deleted and synced again, corresponding PLBM quantities may be removed.
Common misconceptions
Understanding these common misconceptions can prevent errors:
- “I synced, so my BOM updated automatically.” You must regenerate the BOM in PLBM.
- “Editing quantities in PLBM updates my takeoff.” PTO measurements are not changed by PLBM edits.
- “Sync will fix incorrect measurements.” Measurement accuracy must be fixed in the Takeoff workspace before syncing.
