Troubleshooting: The Takeoff Workspace to PLBM Sync Fails

12 views March 30, 2026

If syncing quantities from the Takeoff workspace to Pipeline LBM (PLBM) fails, an error message is displayed. This article helps you understand common reasons sync can fail, what you can fix yourself, and when to contact Support.

Common symptoms

You may be experiencing a sync failure if:

  • A sync error message appears after selecting Sync Quantities.
  • Quantities do not appear or update in PLBM after syncing.
  • Sync completes, but expected changes are missing in PLBM.

Troubleshooting steps

Step 1: Retry the sync

Temporary issues can sometimes cause a sync to fail. Retrying after waiting a few seconds is a quick first step.

Step 2: Check job structure and required sections

A common cause of sync failure is missing or misconfigured job structure in PLBM.

Verify that:

  • Required job sections exist in PLBM.
  • The job structure matches what the takeoff expects.

Step 3: Review takeoff data and configuration

Check the following in the Takeoff workspace:

  • Sheet scale is set correctly.
  • Measurements are valid and not partially created.
  • Deleted or inactive takeoff data is intentional.

Step 4: Refresh and try again

Refreshing the Takeoff workspace ensures the latest configuration is loaded before retrying the sync.

  1. Refresh your browser.
  2. Reopen the job in the Takeoff workspace.
  3. Select Sync Quantities

When to contact Support

If syncing continues to fail after troubleshooting, contact Support.

Include the following information in your message:

  • The exact error message shown during sync.
  • Job name or ID.
  • What changed just before the sync attempt.
